Candle Care & Pro Tips!

When you first get your candle make sure the wick is about 1/4 an inch. This should keep the candle burning without any soot and will give the candle a longer and steadier burning time. We like to leave our wicks long for the look of it but you definitely shouldn't burn them while they are still 5 inches at length!

The first time you burn the candle it's best to leave it burning for at least 3 hours (or until there is a pool of wax over the whole top) this will leave a memory in the wax so that it burns correctly each time you light it.

On hot days, try to leave your candle away from the sun, otherwise the fragrance oils could melt and build up on top. We learned this the hard way from the heat blistering days at the Vintage Bazaar and Brimfield! (Don't get me wrong though, we had a great time!)

If you do find soot forming on the edges even after you've trimmed the wick correctly, it could be because of the thickness of the wick. Not to worry though, just blow out the candle and wait for it to cool. After doing so, the soot can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth or paper towel.

From time to time you might find small flies or mosquitoes in the melted wax, I know its gross and I don't know why in their right mind they would fly into a burning flame but hey it's their choice! Just simply pick them out with some tweezers or a toothpick.
